I qualified with a degree in Science in 1985 and have spent a number of years teaching young people aged between 11 and 18 years.  Early in my teaching career, I was given the opportunity to work in a pastoral role with the children, so in addition to my teaching, I have been thoroughly rewarded with my involvement in the nurture and wellbeing of young people. My most rewarding times were during the years that I spent in schools in areas of multiple deprivation, where I really felt that I could make a difference.

I noticed very quickly that the children in those areas had a number of health difficulties, as did their families.  Many of the children and their families were on courses of medication for a whole manner of chronic illnesses.

This experience, coupled with a difficult spell in my own health, led me to consider nutrition very closely and the health needs of the body. When I examined the diets of many of the young people in my care, I remember being quite surprised and what to me was even more surprising was the lack of knowledge that they had about what a healthy diet consisted of. Who can blame them really, the media provides so many mixed messages about what is healthy.

I realised that medication, whilst it can save lives, can often be inappropriately used and it does not address the root of the problem.

During my own spell of illness, I remember thinking that I wanted to meet someone who would deal with me in a holistic way instead of going to the Gastroenterologist, then to the ENT specialist, then the Neurologist …….and so on. Did anyone join the dots, I wondered….it seemed not. I couldn’t really understand this approach as all of our body systems are linked to each other.

My investigations led to me completing a 3 year Diploma with CNM (College of Naturopathic Medicine).  This allowed me the perspective I had been seeking.   My studies have led me to becoming a qualified Nutritional Therapist. My enthusiasm for this practice knows no bounds. I have and will continue to make my efforts to open this world to as many people as I can, it is for everyone.  I can help you enjoy a life changing experience.
